People are Onions is a three-part publication of golden nuggets and invaluable lessons from our elders, brimming with vibrant stories of yesteryear that would otherwise vanish with the life that lived it.
It is about curiosity, something that’s been forgotten in our busy, fast lives. Real, genuine curiosity leads to connection.
People are Onions is about connection or perhaps, reconnection. Connecting with those that we may write off as dated or naggy. When outside of our narrow vision, there has been a whole life of emotions and lived-experiences just as complex as ours.
I hope this publication reminds you of elders in your life. I hope it sparks questions and curiosity, and I hope you act on that curiosity. There is a source of rich truth and experiences to unearth and learn from—and it is much closer than you think.

I'm Kristen, a designer and illustrator based in Singapore.
Besides listening to jazz or sipping coffee, I enjoy printmaking, sketching silly illustrations, and crafting work that has meaning, that evokes emotion, sparks conversations, and inspires connection.
I strongly believe in experimentation, in giving those wacky ideas a chance to bloom into something bigger than itself. Not everything has to be prim, clean and proper—sometimes messy is beautiful! (Spoiler, most things are)
